Visit Council Crest Park in the SW Portland Hills. The park is one of the highest points in the City of Portland at 1,073 feet above sea level. It used to be a place where Native American tribes held meetings and built signal fires, hence its name.
Today, it's a great place to have a picnic or to simple see some an impressive view of the city. You can see 5 of the mountains in the Cascade Range from the park - Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Rainier. I love heading up here in the summer and spending some time looking out over town. A little moment of zen :)
Council Crest Park also has an off leash dog park, picnic tables, and paved walking paths and is located up at the top of SW Council Crest Drive.
